The fun factor has increased in the studio this past year. I've become more focused on the joy and fun that I find working in my studio. I find inspiration in a mixture of places: the beautiful skies, water, figures (animal & people) and landscapes of our area and beyond. I stay engaged in the studio by sometimes working between several pieces in varying degrees of completion, letting one sit contemplating on what it needs, while moving on to a different painting or medium. I work in Oils, Oils combined with Cold Wax, Pastels, and recently, some small, whimsical, Mixed-Media Sculptures. I let color, value, and composition guide my decision making - but also like to add some unexpected touches of color, texture, or maybe even a touch of copper, gold or silver gilding.
